
Xiaomi recently breaking headlines with its upcoming EV car. The reports have said that the company will show off its first EV car in August.
Xiaomi EV Car Overview:
Reports from Sina Tech has claimed that Xiaomi is preparing to unveil the first prototype of its electric car this August citing sources from within the company and the partner firms. In addition, it is also said that there is a separate facility for EVs at the Xiaomi’s Technology Park.
The founder Lei Jun is to unveil the engineering prototype of Xiaomi EV Car and will be available on two-thirds of his time whenever he is around company headquarter. The little facts revealed on Xiaomi’s first EV includes that it is a product of HVST Automobile Design, the company behind Weltmeister’s Maven concept car.
Pictures leaked of Xiaomi EV on the internet is said to to be similar to the Maven car but has an exception of Xiaomi’s logo.
Production in 2024
Although the prototype of first car of Xiaomi Smart Vehicle Business unveils in August, the mass production of Xiaomi’s first EV car will take place only in 2024 with manufacturing 150,000 cars every year.
So, there is no way the EV is coming soon. The manufacturing plant will be at Yizhuang with space for research and development. The capacity will be around 300,000 EV cars per year. After the first the official unveiling, the Public Relations (PR) department is set up to take charge in marketing.
Xiaomi EV Adventure
The company has planned to enter the EV market public last year committing to form a wholly-owned subsidiary, Xiaomi Smart Vehicle Business, with an initial investment of RMB 1000 billion.
They are seeing further to increase it to USD 10 billion in the next 10 years. Lei Jun is currently the Chief Executive Officer of the Smart Electric Vehicle Business.
Furthermore, Xiaomi Smart Electric Vehicle Business is working on 4 different EV car models across two price segments. The A+ segment will target the RMB 150,000 to 200,000 price bracket whereas premium models will cost between RMB 300,000 and 200,000. A+ and B models both is to feature autonomous driving, albeit of different level.
