What’s inside the box: Realme GT Neo 3, SIM ejector, Power brick, USB-A to USB-C cable, User manual and other documents

Design & Build

  • Glass front/back, Polycarbonate frames
  • 75.6 x 163.3 x 8.2mm, 188 grams

The design is too flashy for someone who’s more into decent style. However, it might be great choice for someone always. There is no IP certification against dust and water damage.

Display

The phone comes with quality 6.7-inch AMOLED panel, which has a first-class color calibration, superb touch response and all the high-end features like a 120Hz refresh rate, 10-bit colors, and HDR10+ support. It too has corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The brightness level can suitably changed for eye comfort.

Furthermore, the optical fingerprint sensor is a little lower here but it is uniquely quite fast and accurate. It features great stereo speakers which is loud and has a good dynamic range.

Performance

  • Octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 8100 5G SoC (5nm)
  • 8/12GB LPDDR5 RAM, 128/256GB UFS 3.1 storage (fixed)
  • Android 12 with Realme UI 3.0 on top

The phone is the first to feature the new MediaTek Dimensity 8100 chipset. The Neo 3’s performance is as super smooth as a high-end phone can get. There are zero micro stutters and the phone can keep a lot of apps in memory at a time as well. There is great touch response and vibration while texting and scrolling.

We won’t experience any unusual overheating or similar other issues as the same cooling solution is there like in the GT 2 and GT 2 Pro. Sustained performance is also great and it remains cool almost all the time except for using it while charging and heavy gaming.

Gaming performance

After the launch, game developers have optimized most of the games to run fluidly at 60 fps unlike then when it was first introduced.

Everything from PUBG Mobile, Apex Legends, and Call of Duty run at a stable 60 fps now. Perhaps, few more updates and further optimizations can enable higher graphics settings too.

The phone should have been able to hit at least HD or HDR graphics with such a capable graphics processor.  In addition, the most popular 120 fps games like Injustice 2 and Critical Ops are capped at 60fps only while it just received an update in Mech Arena which enables 120 fps gameplay.

Thus, it is optimization issue rather than a hardware limitation. So, we can expect it to be better with time.

Cameras

  • Triple camera setup at the back
  • 16MP selfie camera (hole-punch cutout)

It has 50MP Sony IMX766 primary camera, alongside an 8MP wide-angle, and a 2MP macro lens. However, the ISO levels is not so consistent. It clicks with darker exposure at times that makes the pictures quite contrasty. But this isn’t a problem ones we hop in indoors or do portrait shots.

Videography

The main camera has optical image stabilization, yet no stabilization while recording videos across any resolution. It can shoot up to 4K 60 fps footage but it rather looks like OIS is disabled here. Also, during night shot, it takes around 1-2 seconds to process the shot defeating the purpose of having OIS. The subject must be very still so as not to get any shaky images.

Normal Images

The sharp and detailed results in the pictures are quite satisfactory considering the price range of the phone.

Lowlight Images

It captures sharp and well-balanced shots even in low-lights. Since it takes around 1-2 seconds to shoot and process an image, we get a bright and detailed output, with little space for improvement.

Ultrawide Images

The ultrawide angle photos are average for the class and the quality further deteriorates as the sun goes down.

Selfie Images

Selfies are great though as it has good skin tone and excellent exposure balance while taking a selfie against the Sun.

Portrait Images

The phone’s camera is very praiseworthy in this one as the phone brings good colors, the right amount of background blur, and acceptable edge detection.

Battery

GT Neo 3 has quite reliable battery life with 4500mAh cell.  The phone is fully charged within 20 minutes but the 80W charger does it in 30 minutes.

Conclusion:

The phone has smooth 120Hz AMOLED display and reliable performance. It has pretty decent cameras for the price. The battery life is decent and it has one super fast 150W charging. However, the design could’ve been a bit subtle. The high-fps games aren’t well-optimized and OIS doesn’t work as advertised. Also, th 4K selfie recording option in not available which is quite a drawback.
