BAIC has entered Nepal’s passenger vehicle market with the launch of the BJ30e, a rugged lifestyle hybrid SUV introduced by Laxmi Motorhub under Laxmi Group. Unveiled at the NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo 2026, the BJ30e is priced at Rs 1.19 Crore and brings four-wheel drive, a 1.5-litre petrol-hybrid powertrain and adventure-focused design to the market.

It rolls on 19-inch alloy wheels that complement its rugged styling, and a standard roof rack capable of supporting up to 300 kg allows owners to carry rooftop camping accessories or extra equipment. Its boxy, raised-stance body and wide dimensions give it an aggressive, off-road-oriented look distinct from conventional urban SUVs.

Power comes from a 1.5-litre (1,498 cc) turbocharged petrol engine producing 116 kW and 235 Nm of torque. The hybrid system adds a front electric motor delivering 130 kW and 315 Nm, plus a rear motor producing 55 kW and 135 Nm, paired with a 2DHT transmission. The fuel tank has a capacity of 51 litres, and BAIC claims a combined range of approximately 1,000 km on a full tank and charge, though real-world figures on Nepali roads and driving conditions may vary. The all-wheel-drive version shown in Nepal is equipped with a 1.67-kWh battery pack, enabling electric assistance alongside the petrol powertrain
Ground Clearance
The BJ30e offers 215 mm of ground clearance, which is particularly enough to handle Nepal’s rougher roads, light off-roading, and monsoon-season conditions with more confidence than a typical urban SUV. It’s further supported by a 25-degree approach angle and 30-degree departure angle, which help the vehicle clear obstacles without scraping the front or rear when driving over uneven or inclined terrain.
Chassis
The SUV has a kerb weight of 1,770 kg, and its electrified four-wheel-drive system – combining the front and rear electric motors with the petrol engine – is engineered to deliver added traction on rougher surfaces and outdoor terrain.
Safety and Driver-Assistance Features
The BJ30e comes loaded with a comprehensive safety suite, including Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control, lane keeping and lane-change assist, blind-spot detection, Traffic Jam Assist, front and rear collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, and rear cross-traffic alert and braking. It also gets a panoramic parking camera along with front and rear parking sensors.
Additional safety equipment includes front, side and curtain airbags, seatbelt pretensioners, ISOFIX child-seat anchors, ABS with EBD, ESC, TCS, anti-rollover control, tyre-pressure monitoring, hill-hold control, and automatic door locking with collision unlocking.

The BAIC BJ30e has been launched in Nepal at a price of Rs. 1,19,96,000, following an introductory exhibition price of Rs 1,19,96,000 is shown at the expo. This marks BAIC’s official entry into the country’s passenger vehicle segment through Laxmi E-Mobility, a subsidiary of Laxmi Group.
Availability in Nepal
The BJ30e officially entered the Nepali market on August 11, 2026, at the NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo, becoming BAIC’s first passenger vehicle offering in the country.
