Chery, one of China’s largest automakers and the country’s top passenger vehicle exporter since 2003, is officially entering the Nepali market. The company will introduce its all-new electric crossover, the Chery Q, at the upcoming NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo 2026, running from August 11 to 16 at Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu.
Pioneer Moto Corp to Lead the Launch
Chery’s arrival in Nepal will be spearheaded by Pioneer Moto Corp, a subsidiary of the Sharda Group. The company already has an established presence in Nepal’s auto industry, distributing brands such as Nissan, OMODA, JAECOO, and iCAUR. With this launch, Chery becomes the newest addition to its expanding lineup.
On a global scale, Chery has built a strong reputation, with more than 20 million customers across over 130 countries and regions. Its broader family of brands — OMODA, JAECOO, and iCAUR — has been gaining ground internationally, with notable results including rapid growth across more than 24 European countries (particularly the UK), a No. 2 overall automaker ranking in South Africa, a top-5 EV brand position in Thailand, and rising popularity in Indonesia. Industry observers note that this momentum in right-hand-drive and emerging markets closely resembles the path Chery appears to be following in Nepal.
Introducing the Chery Q
Built for modern city living, the Chery Q combines smart tech, distinctive styling, and everyday usability in a compact electric crossover package. It falls under the B-segment and is built on a dedicated EV platform, meaning it was engineered from the start for electric powertrains rather than adapted from a traditional combustion-engine chassis.
Powertrain and Range
The Chery Q is powered by a 41.2 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, which the company describes as best-in-class for its segment, paired with a 90 kW permanent magnet electric motor in a rear-wheel-drive setup. Chery claims a driving range of up to 400 km on the NEDC test cycle, along with DC fast-charging support of up to 85 kW — enabling a 30–80% charge in roughly 16 minutes under ideal conditions.
It’s worth noting that NEDC-rated range figures are typically optimistic compared to real-world driving. Comparable electric vehicles in this class generally deliver closer to 300–350 km in everyday use, so actual range for Nepal-spec units may fall below the claimed figure. Independently verified, real-world numbers for the local market haven’t been released yet.
Practicality and Everyday Use
Despite its compact size, the Chery Q offers 375 litres of boot space, which expands to 1,450 litres with the rear seats folded down — enough flexibility for both daily use and longer trips. It also comes equipped with Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology, allowing the car’s battery to power external devices, which could prove useful during power outages or outdoor activities like camping.
Design Recognition
The Chery Q has already picked up international acclaim, winning the Red Dot Design Award 2025 and the iF Design Award 2026 — two of the most respected recognitions in global product design.
Segment-Leading Features
For a vehicle in its class, the Chery Q comes loaded with tech typically found in higher-tier models, including a 540° panoramic camera system, front parking sensors, intelligent auto-parking, and a suite of 21 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
Variants and Options
Chery is expected to offer the Q in three variants for the Nepali market, with five exterior colour choices and two interior themes available to buyers. Full pricing and variant-wise specifications are expected to be announced at the official launch.

With its award-winning design and a feature set clearly aimed at urban drivers, the Chery Q is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated debuts at this year’s expo.
