Design & Build

The design is well-built although its form factor is common to that of Nord 2. The phone is very comfortable to use because of its light weight. It has a great glass finish and classy slight curved back. The alert slider too is at its best.

The slider is quite professional that gives us the luxury to switch the phone to silent mode at ones without even looking on the screen. Also, the power and volume buttons are satisfactorily composed. They look so randomly placed. Nord 2’s camera placement was way cleaner comparatively. Also, the back catches fingerprints quite easily. As for durability, the phone consists of Gorilla Glass 5 both in front and back.

Performance

OnePlus Nord 2T has reliable performance that has leaped from Dimensity 1200 chipset to Dimensity 1300 is not that significant. It surely has improvised on optimization and thermals.

During the experiment period, the phone was able to get stable 40 fps in the highest possible settings (HDR+Ultra) while playing PUBG. Meanwhile, it too maintained an impressive 60 fps mark at Smooth graphics and Extreme settings. The phone is also optimized to play some of the high fps games like Mech Arena at 90 fps in 87 to 89 fps on average on Ultra graphic profile.

However, it was a little doubtful while playing GPU-demanding games like Genshin Impact. The game would hover around just 30 fps with frequent stutters at the highest settings with 60 fps mode. Thus, medium graphics for stable gameplay is required where the fps mark is still around 30 fps. The phone would heat to 41°C when playing Genshin Impact for about 20 minutes or so but with it was relatively cooler with other games.

Smooth performance

The phone can withstand heavy multitasking and several running apps. The typing experience is quite nice but so the phone is quite very buzzy.

There is high battery optimization that kills background processes in a while. Otherwise, the overall performance is  satisfactory for which we partly can thank the well-optimized OxygenOS. There are couple of minor UI tweaks in the settings and camera app due to the merger with OxygenOS. But, it works fine. So, nevermind. The phone runs ad-free and there are minimum bloatware apps.

In addition, OnePlus has also pledged to provide 2 years of OS and 3 years of security updates which is praiseworthy.

Display

Similar to Nord 2, Nord 2T has 6.43-inch AMOLED screen with a 90Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ certification on the OnePlus Nord 2T. It comes with quality screen with nice colors, contrast and brightness. The company has optimized the 90Hz refresh rate quite well making it great regarding jitters or micro stutters.

Battery

There is an average battery life. It has 4500mAh battery with 80W SuperVOOC charging. It only takes around 30 minutes to fully charge.

Cameras

It has triple camera setup with 50MP Sony IMX766 primary lens, an 8MP ultra-wide, and a 2MP depth sensor. OnePlus has even saturated optimization and quite good level of vibrancy. The contrast is somewhat a bit high and camera seems to brighten a subject. Nevertheless, the results are great.

Selfies from the 32MP are too satisfactory. Although to talk about the ultrawide Images, its ultra-wide camera is strictly average.

Videography

Nord 2T can shoot up to 4K 30 fps videos from the back camera. Despite the onboard OIS, the stabilization is not so good at this resolution. And the selfie videos are still capped at 1080p 30 fps which needs a bit of improvisation.

Audio

The phone has Dual stereo speakers with custom Dirac drivers. They are loud with no distortion in the highest volumes. But the high sound is very sharp and the overall audio gets imbalanced.

Concluding point:

The phone has great design with eliable performance and nice 90Hz AMOLED display. It surely takes great photos and has decent battery endurance supported by 80W fast charging. But, the camera module looks quite weird and sub-par ultrawide camera are quite difficult to compliment. There is no 4K selfie recording option and obviously, speakers could have been better.
